Therapy
Services

Sometimes things don't just get better with time — especially when you're carrying it all quietly. I work with adults navigating stress, trauma, and transition, drawing on the method that fits the moment: trauma-informed care, CBT, couples work, or support through major life change. If you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply not like yourself, this is a focused space to restore clarity and direction.

Our Approach

Therapy is structured around what you need — it may draw on trauma-informed care, CBT, couples work, life-transitions support, or other approaches as clinically appropriate.

  • ·Thoughtful Psychological Care
  • ·Depth, Insight, and Understanding
  • ·Evidence-Based Therapeutic Approaches
  • ·Sustainable Personal Growth

Clients with PPO or POS plans (Premera, Blue Cross, Regence, BlueShield, Aetna, Cigna, or UnitedHealthcare) are often surprised how much they get back. Use either tool to check your benefits.

Treatment Approaches

CBT addresses the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behavior. When anxious or depressed, thinking becomes distorted — overly negative, catastrophic, or self-critical. CBT identifies these patterns and develops more balanced, realistic ways of thinking. Practical, structured, and focused on what's maintaining distress. Effective for anxiety, panic, OCD, depression, and chronic stress.
ACT builds psychological flexibility — the ability to be present with difficult feelings while still moving toward what you value. Rather than eliminating anxiety or negative thoughts, ACT changes your relationship with them. Combines mindfulness with values-based action. Particularly effective for avoidance patterns, chronic anxiety, and rumination.
Psychodynamic therapy examines how past experiences — especially early relationships — shape current patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, it explores the deeper picture: relationships, inner life, recurring dynamics. Effective for people who keep finding themselves in the same painful situations and want to understand themselves more deeply.
Trauma-focused approaches help the nervous system process experiences that are stored as threat rather than memory — showing up as flashbacks, panic, hypervigilance, or emotional numbing. Work begins with stabilization and grounding before any processing. May incorporate EMDR, somatic approaches, or narrative processing depending on presentation. Effective for PTSD, complex trauma, and accumulated emotional wounds.

Clinical Approach

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Rooted in attachment theory — the science of how we bond with the people we love. Most relationship conflicts aren't about the surface issue but about deeper needs: Do you see me? Can I count on you? EFT maps the emotional cycle keeping partners stuck and builds new patterns of reaching and responding. Highly effective for emotional distance, recurring conflict, and trust repair after infidelity.
A research-based approach developed from decades of studying what makes relationships succeed or fail. Identifies specific behaviors that predict relationship breakdown — criticism, contempt, defensiveness, stonewalling — and builds skills to replace them. Emphasizes friendship, shared meaning, and de-escalation. Particularly useful for couples with entrenched conflict patterns or high emotional reactivity.
Applies CBT principles to relational dynamics. Examines the beliefs, assumptions, and interpretations each partner brings to the relationship — including how prior experiences shape current reactions. Helps couples identify distorted thinking patterns about each other and develop more accurate, compassionate attributions. Useful for couples where miscommunication or negative assumptions are a central driver of conflict.
Explores the stories couples tell about themselves and their relationship — including the dominant narratives that define problems as permanent or central to identity. Helps partners separate the problem from the person and co-author a new, more workable story about who they are together. Particularly useful when couples feel their relationship has been "defined" by conflict, betrayal, or a difficult chapter.

Clinical Approach

Family Systems Work

Focuses on the family's structure — roles, boundaries, and hierarchy. Many presenting problems reflect blurred boundaries or an unclear parental subsystem rather than a single member's "issue." Work centers on clarifying roles and rebuilding a functional structure the whole family can operate within.
A brief, directive model focused on specific, observable problems rather than open-ended processing. Sessions produce concrete, behavioral steps for the family to practice between visits. Well suited to families who want a clear plan rather than extended exploration.
Looks at generational and emotional patterns across the family, with particular attention to enmeshment (over-reactivity to one member's behavior) and triangulation (a third party — a school, a sibling — inserted between two others). Helps family members stay regulated and differentiated rather than reactive.

Frequently Asked Questions

What to know before you book

Individual Sessions$225
Couples Therapy$275
Family Therapy$275

Payment is due at time of booking via cash, credit card, or HSA/FSA.

This practice does not bill insurance companies directly. A superbill (CPT codes) is furnished upon request for you to submit to your carrier for personal reimbursement.

Example: How the numbers work

If your PPO plan covers 50% of out-of-network care, your final session cost drops from $225 to $112.50.

If you have no out-of-network benefits

If your policy does not offer out-of-network coverage, state laws provide specific legal protections to enforce your access to timely mental health care when local in-network options are full or unavailable.

Maryland Residents
The 45-Mile / 10-Day Rule

If your insurer cannot find an available in-network provider within a 45-mile radius or within 10 days, you have the right to immediately file a formal Network Insufficiency Claim.

Washington Residents
Access & Delay Protections

State mandate protects you against unreasonable search radii or appointment waiting delays. If in-network access fails, you can submit an Alternate Access Delivery Request.

To invoke these consumer protections, you must contact your insurance carrier directly and request their specific network exception forms.

Yes. A limited number of sliding scale spots are reserved for individuals facing financial hardship — including those below the poverty line due to medical circumstances, job loss, or other qualifying situations. Available for both individual and group therapy, with sessions at 45 minutes. Spots are limited and assessed case by case; reach out directly to inquire about current availability.
Adults ages 18 and older. This practice does not provide services to minors.
Most sessions are conducted via HIPAA-compliant telehealth. Maryland clients may request in-person sessions where available. Washington State clients are seen exclusively via telehealth.
Individual sessions are 53 minutes. Couples sessions are 60 minutes. Sliding scale sessions are 45 minutes.
Weekly. Therapy at this practice operates on a weekly recurring model. Consistent attendance is a clinical expectation, not a preference. Clients who cannot commit to weekly sessions are not a good fit for this practice.
48 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule without charge. Late cancellations and no-shows are billed the full session fee. This policy applies without exception.
A brief consultation is available for $25, deductible from the cost of the first intake session. The intake session itself includes a comprehensive clinical interview used to determine fit, treatment goals, and recommended approach.
Anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, occupational stress, grief, and chronic illness adjustment. This practice does not treat active psychosis, severe personality disorders requiring intensive outpatient care, or substance use as a primary presenting concern.
A superbill is an itemized receipt provided by your therapist that includes the session date, CPT billing code, diagnosis code, and provider credentials. You submit it directly to your insurance company to request reimbursement for out-of-network services. It is not a guarantee of reimbursement — your plan's out-of-network benefits determine what, if anything, you receive back.
Most clients submit monthly — collecting all session receipts for the month and submitting them in a single batch to their insurer. Some submit after each session. Your insurance carrier may have a filing deadline (typically 90 to 180 days from the date of service), so submitting monthly keeps you well within that window.

Additional practice policies — including confidentiality, scope of services, and terms of service — are available on the Practice Policies page.
